Louie Schwartzberg’s time lapse films of flowers will be taking the stage along with Dolly Parton, Alicia Keys, Kylie Minogue and more at The 2021 Fragrance Foundation Awards.
Each year, the foundation selects an artist to do a creative collaboration to “inspire the world to discover the artistry and passion of fragrance.”
With flowers as the theme for 2021, Louie was selected as the Foundation’s partner. Known for his beautiful films of nature, Louie’s time lapse photos of flowers open our hearts and remind us that we are a part of nature and not separated from it.
As part of this partnership, Louie’s work showed up at a virtual event that was held by the Fragrance Foundation on Fragrance Day in March. For the second activation, Louie and his films of flowers will be featured at the Fragrance Foundation’s Annual Awards ceremony, a virtual event held on June 10th.
“Flowers are really one of the most beautiful elements that are ingredients to fragrance,” said Linda G. Levy, President of The Fragrance Foundation. “There is no perfumer that exists on planet earth that hasn’t had flowers as ingredients within their fragrances.”
Levy discovered Louie’s work after seeing Fantastic Fungi in the movie theater. “I was overwhelmed,” she explained. “It is a life changing experience.”
At the virtual event, Louie’s films will be on display and Louie will also be in attendance, sharing his innermost thoughts about the connection between flowers and fragrance.
What do fragrances and flowers have in common?
Both flowers and fragrance connect to the brain’s limbic system, triggering memory and emotions. Additionally, scents and flowers are transportive and can take you to another world, a special feature over the last year when everyone was stuck at home.
