Let It Snow
We may be biased, but we think our fantastic fungi community (that’s you!) is the most intelligent, engaged, clever and hilarious crew on the interwebs. We’ve so enjoyed getting to know you, learn from you, listen to you and share our common love for all things fungi. We love how game you are for even the wacky stuff, so we knew you’d be excited about this final fungi challenge of 2014:
WRITE YOUR OWN MUSHROOM MELODY
To the tune of “Let it Snow”, write your own fungi-themed verse in the comments below. There’s only one rule: Your verse must end with the line: “Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow!”
We’ll select the most fungi-tastic lyrics and announce the winner on Facebook on the 26th!
Here are some examples to get the creative juices flowing:
Oh, our environmental issues are frightful
But mycelium could ensure our survival
Let’s challenge the status quo
Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow!
Or
Oh, the environment does concern us
But mycelium should reassure us
We’ve got such a long way to go
So, let it grow, let it grow, let it grow!
Alright, let’s get lyrical! Share with friends to make this the most interesting/poignant/thought-provoking/laugh-out-loud funny contest of the year!
Oh the mushrooms could kill or save us And they have delicious flavors But there’s only one way to know…Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow!!
I’m a little confused as to where I should post my lyrics so I put it on my FB page and here… maybe you can clarify?
Hi Cynthia,
You’ve done it in the right place! Right here on this blog post in the comments section is where we’ll be checking for creative lyrics like yours! Happy Holidays!
-Fantastic Fungi Team
Well there’s wood and leaves a-rotting
And we’ve got some spores for dropping
And as long as it rains, not snows (unless you’re Flammulina velutipes),
Let it grow, Let it grow, Let it grow!!
P.S. I’m not on Facebook but I am on Twitter!
Any limit to the number of entries one can submit? Cause I got another one for ya.
Well we’re crapping on the planet that made us
But the fungi can teach us and save us
But only if our hearts open so we can
Let it grow, Let it grow, Let it grow!!
My, My, My , Mycelium
My, My, My, silly Mum.
Playing with the fungi
and she thinks its fun
My, My, My Mycelium.
All I want for Christmas is mycelium…..
I’ll take the “fantastic fungi” Challenge…..
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
While our environment is so frightful
The cure can taste delightful
Since we’ve really no place else to go,
Let ’em grow,
Let ’em grow
Let ’em grow!!!
Oh the forest is like a deli
Just more fun and a lot less smelly
The fungi will keep it just so
Let it grow! let it grow! let it grow.
As santa flew by with his reindeer
dropping agarics and lions mane
mycellium grew strong
bringing joy and song
let it grow, let it grow, let it grow
While winter is indeed, frightful
No shrooms to bloom at snowfall
But we have “Fantastic Fungi” to show
Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow
Oh, the fungi find the dark so delightful
Mushrooms are major players of the carbon cycle
They’re just about everywhere you go
Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow
Mycelium’s time is right-full
A mighty forest is so delightful
Plan to let everyone know
Let it grow, Let it grow, Let it grow.
Or
Mycelium’s time is right-ful
A mighty forest so delightful
make plans to make it so
let it grow, let it grow, let it grow.
Although mycelium are so precious
with fruit that’s so delicious
we want everyone to know…
Let them grow, let them grow, let them grow.
We can cook them in a stew
or add them to a brew
used as medicine you know…as long as we let them grow
Sustainability is what we need and spores are mushroom seed
well spread them to and fro
Let them grow, let them grow, let them grow.
Mushrooms take time to decompose
the forest and help as it grows
the planet needs our help
like the oceans needing kelp
If we don’t make better choices
and use our outside voices
the world will suffer so
LET THEM GROW, LET THEM GORW, LET THEM GROW
Thank you
I appear after most rainfalls
Wow…. I think you even added the refrain? Impressive!
