Nature, Faith, Fungi & Community
In this final week of the official Gratitude Lab, we turn our focus to faith and community. How ironic – and how perfect – that another of Louie’s inspirational muses – the underground world of mycelium network – just happens to parallel this sense of connection, wonder, and gratitude.
“Mother Trees” is the film trailer we showed to you last year, but seems increasingly relevant and vital to see and share today, so here it is for you.
If you know of anyone who feels disconnected, or who might need to be uplifted with some hope and beauty, please share this with them. It might just provide the very comfort they need right now.
Film Sneak Peek: Mother Trees
We are beyond thrilled to be progressing with the film production for Fantastic Fungi, the feature film. This will aim to be completed this year. We hope that you see the natural connection between nature, fungi’s role in protecting it, the power greater than ourselves which provides us with this magical mycelium, and arms the earth with exactly what it needs to protect itself and us, and the sense of community and connection to all things.
We’d love to hear from you. You can share anything you’d like related to these 4 intertwined topics: Nature, Fungi, Faith and Community.
If you’d like to dig deeper (Ha, dig… as in earth, as in fungi… sigh), we invite you to participate in our community of gratitude by participating in the final week of Gratitude Lab for Faith & Community.
We’ll be preparing a beautiful e-book for all participants.
Special Bonus: Connection, featuring Jason Silva (length: 2 minutes)
When we think of mycelium, we think of CONNECTION. From our Gratitude Revealed film series, here are 2 powerful minutes of word flow (poetry) from Jason Silva to spark your own connectivity!
If so inspired, we invite you to

Louie Schwartzberg loves fungi. He respects fungi even more. Through his lens he has witnessed the miraculous and healing nature of mycelium first hand, and this has lead him to connect with the greatest fungi scientists, explorers, doctors, artists, healers and fungi enthusiasts of the world. The result? Fantastic Fungi, the film, is heavily in production! Our community (YOU) rallied together in 2015 to raise the Kickstarter funds – over $130,000 – to warrant taking the project to the next step. As our thanks, and to celebrate our progress along the way, we wanted to share this sneak peek footage with you. This film is going to make you very proud to be a part of it!
I have watched Paul Stamets Talking about Fungi . For me it sounds like something from another world. Good Luck to you all. I can’t wait for the movie. Regards. Steve Elliott.
Louie,
I absolutely LOVE your film
Mother Trees ! How amazing and inspiring it is, life’s purpose for all is to grow, expand, reach abundance -fulfillment and nature has a way of doing this in a graceful flowing manner.
Thanks for sharing this I will rewatch it alot.
All the Best,
Lori
I love this video so much! Thank you for making it!!
Hi Louie,
I just want to thank you for being you – for sharing your amazing talent with the world. For inspiring us, for reminding us of the importance of life itself.
I am truly grateful.
With much love,
Laurinda
THANK YOU
Extremely excited for this documentary! Fungi is giving my life more purpose. After years of searching for something that I am truly passionate about, I finally discovered the wonderful world of fungi. I spend my free time reading about it and searching for mushrooms. I’m going back to school to major in Biology with an aim to study mycology. Love you and Paul Stamets’ work and can’t wait for Fantastic Fungi!
How beautiful life is. Thank you for your wonderful work.
es maravilloso poder apreciar lo increible que resulta el proceso de la vida en la quietud y la paz que esta transmite y en la forma como la naturaleza nos demuestra su grandeza.
Gracias Louie. por su trabajo es exepcional.
How wondrous and wonderful it all is!Thank you Louie for the gift of you and your ability to portray the connectivity of all things and as Jason Silva spoke so eloquently, to remove the veil that appears to separate us. Grateful blessings.
To be part of this must make life Amazing, I only wish more people were aware of it and cared more about our wonderful world than a new car or designer tag’s. I can not wait to see the film and will share with as many that will take the time to learn. Keep doing what you are doing and maybe, just maybe, with luck Mother Earth can breath a sigh of releaf.
I agree with Laurinda above… in someways “we”are surprised by how trees are interrelated , yet immediately your discovery feels right .. why not?
Very exciting and calming at the same time.. a base rhythm of life – itself. This is Grace.
Love and respect the work you do to create so much for us all to absorb, ponder and learn from. You are truly a gifted soul. Thank You……
Hi Louie – I just featured this video as part of a blog post on Horses and Trees:

If there’s any way I could embed this video right in the post, that would be great (I think it would increase views and I REALLY want people to watch this!). But it not, no worries, I understand. 🙂 I’m a good friend of Katie Hess so I’m sure we’ll meet someday…
Grand merci pour ces superbes vidéos !
que j’essaie de partager le plus possible
autour de moi pour les “grands” et les “petits”
c’est un réel émerveillement
en fait on fait comme les champignons ! connections !!
