(Everyone Wins: Download Your Mushroom Foraging Checklist!)
800 quiz competitors, 400 more challenges,
1 beautiful mushroom hunting basket to give away… The suspense is killing us!…
Over the past 7 days, 800 people took our quiz to win the chance at owning a beautiful mushroom hunting basket, courtesy of Dr. Paul Stamets and Fungi Perfecti.
Submissions and challenges poured in every single day, around the clock. You want this basket. You really want it bad.
47% of you had the right answer!
This was the most impressive stat of all to us. We thought this was really hard! But, apparently our community is extremely bright. We’ll keep that in mind for next time.
At the end of the day, there could only be one (or two, actually) winners.
Congratulations, Stephanie Boucher! And, because you were challenged by Nicholas Dentico YOU BOTH WON! Woohoo! The entire Fantastic Fungi tribe is doing a foraging dance for you right now!
Didn’t win a basket? Never fear…. We’ve got you covered!
September is MUSHROOM MONTH, so here’s your foraging checklist from Fantastic Fungi:
Here are some great tips for foraging we came across…. as this just happens to be MUSHROOM MONTH!
1. What You’ll Need to Bring:
While our quiz winners will be receiving Fair Trade certified baskets from Dr. Paul Stamets’ Fungi Perfecti, that doesn’t stop any of the rest of us from being well prepared for our own adventures.
Obviously, you’ll need something to collect your finds. According to Arizona Mushroom Forum, aim to avoid “… materials that are chosen for decorative purposes and low cost rather than durability. It may be better to buy an artisan-made product from a culture that depends on well-made baskets for food transport and storage.”
2. Beyond the Basket: Mushroom Foray Equipment Checklist
For an excellent and beyond thorough list of complete foraging equipment and tools, click here. We’ve compiled a checklist for you to download and print. Just click the button above and enjoy! Did we leave something off? Let us know in comments below.
3. What to Look For:
It’s important to do a bit of research on your area. Look online before you adventure out to the wilderness. What’s the weather like? What are good areas to forage, and possible areas to avoid. Be responsible and prepared, bringing everything you might need for any possible scenario. A true adventurer is well-informed, leaving nothing to chance!
Gorgeous site…would.ve liked to see the quiz question and answer! Also, would move first aid kit or at least bandana(for sprains or cuts) and snacks to the required section…thanks,
Thank you for the compliment, Donna! And, for the suggestion. You can never be too well prepared!
Answers: 1. Internet; 2. All of these; 3. Microstoma floccosa.
