World Health Day is all about Mushrooms, Trees, Flowers, Garden vegetables and Ocean Water. Get back to nature and change your states of consciousness! Paul Stamets holding Fungi

Happy World Health Day! What an amazing day to celebrate the healing powers of nature than a global day celebrating health, especially as COVID-19 is still hanging around.

Did you know that nature has the ingredients to help you boost your immune system, your mood and cure many ailments? Whether you are eating local bee pollen and honey to ward off seasonal allergies or taking meditative walks in the forest, Mother Nature is rich with healing elements. We have rounded up five elements of nature with the power to heal.

  • Mushrooms

Research has shown that mushrooms offer a myriad of health benefits. Eating mushrooms can help boost memory, reduce inflammation and lower blood sugar. Additionally medicinal mushrooms like shiitake, maitake, and reishi can prevent tumors and boost antioxidants. Add some mushrooms to your plate today!

  • Trees

Forest bathing is scientifically proven to improve health by giving people a way to mindfully slow down and connect to nature. Trees let off phytoncides, oils that help boost the human immune system. These oils activate natural killer cells that quickly respond to abnormal cells, helping with cancer prevention.

  • Flowers

Did you know that hospital patients with flowers in their room need less pain medication? And being around flowers can help elderly people improve their memory. Looking at flowers for just a few minutes can help calm your nervous system and boost your mood. Next time you are feeling down, head to the garden and let nature work her magic!

  • Garden vegetables

Planting a garden is good for your health in so many ways. The movement is great exercise, the fresh air and sunshine boosts your Vitamin D and a diet of fresh vegetables is nutrient rich and heart-healthy. Whether you have an acre of land or just a window box for herbs, spring is the perfect time to start your garden!

  • Ocean Water

Did you know that swimming in the sea is good for your health? Red and white blood cells increase when you submerge your body in the ocean, boosting the immune system and reducing stress. The magnesium and the salt in the water can clean your skin and cut down anxiety. No wonder surfers are so chill!

This World Health Day, take some time to consider how nature helps keep you healthy and embrace Mother Nature’s healing powers. Share how you use nature to boost your health in the comments.
