Did you know May 26th will be the best astronomical event of the year? The total eclipse will take place in the morning - try a Lunar Eclipse Meditation! Phases of the lunar eclipse

Happy Full Moon! Did you know that the full moon in May will be the best astronomical event of the year? The total eclipse will take place on the morning of May 26th, the perfect time to try a lunar eclipse meditation on the grandness of nature. While the May moon is usually called a flower moon, this event will be a super blood moon since the Earth’s shadow will block the sun’s light from shining on the moon’s surface. The moon will turn to a lovely rust color.

The temporary darkening of light that comes with an eclipse can invite deep, meaningful reflection in a time of uncertainty. Here are some ideas for how to spend your meditative time during this May’s celestial phenomenon.

Take it Outside

If you’re hoping to share this lunar moment with friends, meditating safely in a group can be achieved outside in the fresh air. Sharing the increased energy at the time of the eclipse could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Even if you usually keep your eyes closed during mediation, a little indirect peak will be understandable. Being outside will allow you to enjoy the awe-inspiring view that nature offers and have an empowering start to your day.

A Room With a View

Another idea, especially if the weather doesn’t cooperate, is to find a room with a view — if the eclipse is visible from your location. Even if you can’t see it, being able to gaze outside during your meditation will still be nurturing and allow you to connect with the abundant energy of nature. You may wish to chant at the moment of the eclipse.

Join a Virtual Group

Nowadays, virtual group mediation is a popular alternative to in-person meditation and can still provide a strong connection with other like-minded people. Joining a class that coincides with the eclipse’s timing will allow you to unite your group’s virtual energies and increase your connections with nature.

Meditate Silently

To fully connect with the increased energy from the eclipse and use the opportunity to contemplate the universe and all the gifts from nature, enjoy a silent lunar eclipse meditation on May 26th.
